Final Drafts

PR23.2.5.1 (4).jpg

A letter explaining the last alterations before the final draft.

Finally, the author and editor have compromised and settled on various aspects of the book from illustration size to word count and placement. This is when a final manuscript is drafted up with all the illustrations and both the author and editor look at it one last time before it is sent off to the printers to become an official book, cover and all. Within the Rose Griffiths Archive there are quite a few different manuscripts present from this final stage. The largest of these manuscripts is the ‘Oxford First Book of Maths’ which is also one of the most detailed final drafts in the collection, very closely resembling the published book.
