Title

Thomas Fielding Johnson (1828 – 1921); Agnes Mabel Bruce, née Fielding Johnson (1864 – 1943); Leonard Huxley (1860 – 1933); Rosalind Huxley, née Bruce (1890 – 1994), with baby David Bruce Huxley (1915 – 1992); and Agnes Fielding Johnson, née Paget (1840 – 1917), probably taken 1915 or 1916.

Description

No doubt other visitors at ‘Brookfield’ [the family home] included members of the Huxley family, as Mrs Bruce’s daughter, Rosalind, was married to Leonard Huxley, father of the evolutionary biologist Julian Huxley and writer and philosopher Aldous Huxley. Leonard and Rosalind’s own son, Sir Andrew Fielding Huxley, won the 1962 Nobel Prize in Physiology and in 1967 received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Leicester.
