One evening we were out towards Cropston, riding across Cropston, and this chap came along and said, ‘Hello lads, you’re doing alright’, he says, ‘Would you like to join a club? Right’, he says, ‘the club room’s open on Monday night, would you like to come down?’ Anyway, turned out we weren’t old enough! But, the family section, she said you can come out with us on a Sunday. I remember the first ride out we went out to Houghton on the Hill. It didn’t seem very far that didn’t for us because we’d already, we’d already made a holiday trip to Yarmouth. Camping. We’d rode overnight – partly overnight – and camped out there.
Did you cycle…?
Yeah, yeah, and…
How long does it take to cycle to Yarmouth? Well, how long did it take you?
We set off seven o’clock in the evening on the Friday night and camped, we camped for a couple of hours or so, and we were there for just after breakfast, eight, nine o’clock in the morning. So, you know, we were reasonably fit in those days.
