History of Museum, Purpose of Museum, Collections, Exhibitions
Description
A booklet which begins by talking about the history of museums and how they have developed in the UK. There is also a diagram (which no title) which shows, possibly, various subjects or jobs that a museum does. Talks about collecting and how it is more ‘scientific’ now. Moreover, how curators collect, preserve and publish. They talk about exhibitions and how they want to ‘recreate an atmosphere and tell a story’. Museums should help those who study. Hope that loans can be issued in the future to smaller towns and how their school service ‘brings every schoolchild in the country into living touch with all our activities’. Talks about what an art gallery aims to do. Another diagram of how an object goes from acquisition to publication to display. Talks about geology, biology, archives and antiquities. Image of the publication methods and outlets of museums.
