They were very good and they were good to children. And if they’d, if they had anything, oranges, or anything like that they bring them to the kids. If you knew one, which I did know one or two, you know, because I used, I used, to go in town once, twice, because my husband was in the army. But they were very good with children. They would give him anything, you know. But there was quite a lot of arguments and things in the towns with them. But I think they've got on pretty well with everybody. I think our soldiers resented them because they got more money than us. I think that was the only thing. And if there was any coloured people, there wouldn't have anything whatsoever to do with them. You know, they just think it was terrible because they were allowed to speak to white ladies.
