That secretary, John Stapleton, he said when he knew I was joining, he said, right, Phil, when you put those headphones on you'll never be the same again, because it's a different world, and believe me, it is. So, I suppose in a way, an antidote to my job working in an office to listen to the sounds of wildlife. It was just another world and also, how about in a cold winter, getting to bed at night, the wind howling around, the snow coming down, and just thinking of though, or listening, put a sound on and put some of the sounds on that either you've done or some of your colleagues have done, all the CDs about now, and listening to those sounds, sounds are alive. Now, photographs are beautiful, but they're not, they're basically, they're not alive either. You put a sound on and that sound is alive. And I can put a sound on there, I recorded in ‘60... in ‘75, say, and it takes me straight back. So, basically, it's another world, and when I put those headphones on, not only are you hearing wildlife, but you're hearing vehicles, because wherever I go, you’re never far from the main road. I can be up in the middle of one of my favourite woods, Burley on the Hill woods at Oakham. You can be right in the middle of the wood, and if there's not any wind, you can hear the traffic going up and down that Barnsdale Road, going up and down the other side to Burley up, down, down to Oakham. Even when you're in some of the remotest parts, you put those headphones on and you can hear everything. But to hear the sounds of wildlife, simply, it's another world, and it just takes me into another world. That's my passion.
